Sydney Rhodes-James, a former two-time All CAA field hockey goalie and Division 1 National Champion at the University of Delaware, has announced her new role with club H2O.

Sydney will join her twin sister, Sabrina, in both co-operating H2O and will also be part of her thriving recruiting and training venture, Commit2Hockey.

H2O, the Harford County based field hockey club, currently has 18 teams in age groups ranging from Under 8 to Under 19.  Both Rhodes twins played their entire club careers with H2O and now are guiding it, attempting to add to its many individual and team successes in its twenty-year history.

In the cage, Sydney helped H2O to the clubs first National Indoor Tournament title and then added three more over her career.  After her high school and club playing careers were over, Sydney moved to the collegiate ranks as a UD Blue Hen.  In addition to her All Conference selections in 2018 and 2019, she was named to the NCAA Senior Game, was twice named CAA Defensive Player of the week and was National Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 2019), and was named the 2019 UD team MVP.  Most recently, Sydney was a top assistant with The University of Pennsylvania’s field hockey team.  Initially, she focused on goalies, but her role grew over her time there.  She coached Penn’s goalies to All-Ivy honors and several Defensive Player of the Week honors as well.

Commit2Hockey, focuses on assisting high school student athletes with the recruiting process to play at the next level.  They offer personalized evaluations of the athletes and use their many connections in the college coaching community to aid each student athlete.  In addition, individual and small group field hockey training is offered, and Rhodes-James will bring her expertise, especially with goalies and defenders, to this aspect of Commit2Hockey.

Sabrina Rhodes-Zito has been running Commit2Hockey for nearly three years and brought with her a wealth of field hockey knowledge.  Since her collegiate career ended at The University of Maryland, she was named to the USA National Indoor Team in late 2020 and now is the Head Coach of the U17 National Indoor team.
