Rhodes named USA U17 Indoor Head Coach

H2O Head Coach, Sabrina Rhodes, began preparing the USA U17 Women’s National Indoor team for its upcoming competitions. In late 2024, Rhodes was named the Coach of the U17 squad and helped finalize their roster after several days of evaluations in December.

Rhodes has a rich history with the USAFH program. She was twice selected to the Junior Olympics. Then, while playing for the collegiate powerhouse UMD Terps, she was named to the Women’s National Developmental Team. Later, she was named to the Women’s National Indoor Team in late 2020, and played for Jun Kentwell, who is still the Head Coach of the National Indoor program.

The U17 National Team held an initial tryout this summer at the WC Eagles Training Center near Pottstown, PA. They finalized the roster after their December tryouts. The team will train throughout the indoor season and are slated to participate in the CanAm Series, scheduled for March 15-16. The CanAm Series is an annual field hockey event which alternates hosting duties between the United States and Canada. Toronto, Canada will be the host site in 2025. Competing that weekend will be the U17 and Developmental teams from USAFH. Those athletes will be gaining experience in international competition with an eye toward eventually making the US Indoor National team. The Women’s team recently won the gold medal at the Rohmax Cup in Austria and continue to see their world ranking rise.

Rhodes has been Head Coach of field hockey club, H2O for several years. She has helped the club to multiple National Indoor Tournament (NIT) championships, USA Field Hockey’s culminating event for the Indoor Season. Additionally, she has coaching experience at the high school level and recently she has assisted USA Field Hockey with coaching duties at Nexus, an Olympic pipeline program.
